The Government (FSA) recommends that children should eat a healthy balanced diet with lots of fruit, vegetables and starchy foods. Try and include the following:
Milk, cheese and yoghurt – these all contain calcium for strong bones and teeth – Mr Strong loves them! Breakfast cereals, margarine and oily fish are all good sources of Vitamin D which ensures calcium gets into the bloodstream so make sure they eat plenty of these too.
Red meat and fish provide iron;
and juicy citrus fruits, which Mr
Happy likes to eat every day,
offer a healthy dose of vitamin C,
for general health and iron
absorption. Also include oily fish for those all important omega-3s; and green vegetables and carrots which are full of vitamin A, vital for vision and healthy skin. For more information go to www.eatwell.gov.uk
